Description

Abstract Text:
The European Commission (EC)-United States (US) Task Force on Biotechnology Research has a longstanding joint Working Group on Biotechnology for the Environment whose mission is to foster collaborations between researchers in the European Union (EU) and US in the field of environmental biotechnology. A special focus of the Working Group is to increase scientific interchange between early career scientists in the US and EU. Such interactions provide a foundation for long-term collaborations and aid in solving environmental problems that challenge both groups across international boundaries. A joint US-EC Workshop on Metabolomics and Environmental Biotechnology is planned for Mallorca, Spain on June 16-17, 2008. The Workshop will bring together 20 pairs of senior scientists and early career scientists (ten from the EU and ten from the US) who will interact to address the workshop objectives and promote international collaboration.

It is important to recognize, and consider in any interpretation of Federal RePORTER data, that the publication and patent information cannot be associated with any particular year of a research project. The lag between research being conducted and the availability of its results in a publication or patent award varies substantially. For that reason, it's difficult, if not impossible, to associate a publication or patent with any specific year of the project. Likewise, it is not possible to associate a publication or patent with any particular supplement to a research project or a particular subproject of a multi-project grant.
